Caminho das ZEIS – Adding land regularization guidelines to walkability, Fortaleza, Ceará (CE)

The project “Caminhos das ZEIS” consists in conciliating the actions of “Se liga na rede” with the proposals made by the Integrated Land Regularization Plans and the guidelines of the Municipal Plan of Walkability, aiming at promoting, besides the sewer interconnections, a greater active mobility and accessibility for the local population. Such choice intends to qualify the ZEIS, considering they are areas with low HDI, precarious basic sanitation, high levels of urban degradation and low offer of walkability. Moreover, the Caminho das Zeis project aims at the execution of the plans elaborated by the city of Fortaleza and at the expansion of the Se Liga na Rede Project. Three priority ZEIS will be contemplated in the first stage of the project: ZEIS Pirambu – population 80,857; ZEIS Moura Brasil – population 1,104; and ZEIS Serviluz – population 13,462. Total population benefited – 95,420 people.
